IG InmateGuide

Privacy policy

InmateGuide takes privacy seriously, especially given that many of our visitors are searching for sensitive information about an incarcerated loved one. This page describes what we collect, why we collect it, and what we don't do with it.

What we collect

We collect standard server access logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested page, referrer, timestamp) for security and basic traffic analytics. We do not require accounts and do not collect names, emails, or phone numbers unless you voluntarily send them to us through our contact email.

Cookies and analytics

We use first-party cookies for basic site functionality (remembering your preferred state, dismissing the cookie banner). We use a privacy-respecting analytics provider that anonymizes IP addresses and does not track users across other sites.

Advertising

We display ads served by Google AdSense and a small number of reentry-related sponsors. Ad networks may use cookies to serve relevant ads; you can control or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and NAI Opt Out.

What we never do

We never sell visitor data. We never share search queries with corrections agencies. We never identify individual visitors to advertisers, sponsors, or partners. We never email lists or text marketing.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or California, you have the right to request deletion of any data we hold about you. Email privacy@prisonnavigator.com with your request. Because we collect very little data, in most cases there is nothing to delete beyond what naturally rotates out of our server logs after 30 days.

Children

InmateGuide is intended for adults supporting incarcerated loved ones. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Updates

We update this policy when our practices change. The current version is always at this URL.
